George was a good friend. Among other things, we shared an interest in motorcycles – he got an ancient Harley running that, as I recall, had been in storage for decades in his family’s basement/garage. I remember well our leaving the Northport High parking lot together on our motorcycles. The Harley was a big bike, complete with a suicide shift on the side of the gas tank. George really enjoyed getting it back on the road. Bill Shuter, Roy Schildhorn, George and I occasionally rode together … not exactly Hell’s Angels but we all loved riding.
