Harold Knudsen

Cry for home...
Harold Raymond Knudsen, Jr., formerly of Northport, NY, retiring to Norwich, NY, passed on 6/20/2022 at the age of 71. Harold was born to Harold Raymond Knudsen Sr. and Lillian Sande Knudsen in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY on 8/4/1950. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, mother of his children, Linda Sue Follet Knudsen, his father, Harold Raymond Knudsen, Sr., and older sister, Kari Knudsen Craig. His 95 year old mother resides in Huntington, NY.

He leaves his wife, Risa, of Norwich, his two children, daughter, Laurie Knudsen Sebbesse of Kings Park, his son, Erik Knudsen of upstate NY, five grandchildren and twin siblings, Nancy Knudsen Rodland of Charlottesville, VA and Paul Knudsen of East Northport.

Harold is a 1968 graduate of Northport High School, previously attending Walt Whitman High School playing football and the lead singer in a rock'n'roll band competing in many Battle of the Bands in Heckscher Park, Huntington, and briefly, Ocala HS prior to his family moving to Northport. During these years, he was an active member of the Huntington DeMolay Fraternal Organization, an avid boater/water skier, and attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Huntington. Harold began raising and racing homing pigeons as a pre-teenager, continuing through his last moments.

In adulthood, he began working for the Northport Highway Department becoming Superintendent of Highway and was a volunteer Northport Fireman for many years, playing baseball for their team, The Mudhens.  Additionally, he worked as the Sextant of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Northport.

Harold had two very favorite and accomplished pastimes: hunting and bowling.
Hunting skills began in Ocala/Ft. McCoy FL and lasted his lifetime in and surrounding Norwich, beginning each year with bow season ending with a bang! Harold considered hunting more than a sport. He loved filling his freezer with venison and other critters for the wild and natural.

The past three years have been exhausting and challenging while suffering with pulmonary fibrosis, two lung transplants and a broken femur. He was courageous, brave and a fighter. His endurance was commendable coupled with a will to live longer. He will be missed with prayers always offered for rest, peace, a fearless spirit free from anxiety, embraced In God's hands. Fly away, brother!
