I am deeply sadden with the sudden and untimely passing of a dear & cherished childhood friend; a friendship which began at Ocean Avenue School. Jennifer Linsley Alphin lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on September 20, 2017 and leaves behind her husband Tom (married 44 years), son Tommy (Amy) and daughter Suzanne. When it was time, Jennifer left us swiftly and without fuss leaving a trail of broken hearts behind her. Raising her family in Severna Park, MD, Jennifer enjoyed her teaching career at Severn School and received much admiration for being a tough but devoted math teacher. Upon retirement, Jennifer & Tom moved to Lexington, VA and renovated a landmark historic 1920's house. They shared the spark of travel adventures and enjoyed ocean voyages taking them to many ports and cities around the world. Jennifer used every minute of the day to pursue her many hobbies, supported numerous volunteer groups, but still scheduled time for her travels to family and friends. Jennifer was a keeper of history - whether it was family or her beloved Northport memories. She especially enjoyed her numerous trips to Northport and embraced her passion for current Northport news. Her humility, generous and kind spirit, unparalleled devotion and loyalty to her family and friends are among the greatest legacies she will leave behind. Jennifer will sadly be missed at our 50th NHS reunion which she had all intentions of attending.

So very sorry to hear about Jennifer Linsley! Shocked, really! We had lost touch with each other but in Northport we were good friends. Jennifer was always so cheerful and positive, and she possessed a first-class brain. We can comfort ourselves that she had a rich, fulfilling life and loving family, but to be taken so young!  She will be greatly missed. Condolences to her family.

Was saddened when I heard of Jennifer's medical struggle and passing.  Thank you Sandy for such a beautiful memorial for a most special person - smart,, loving and family oriented.  Though we will miss her at the 50th reunion, I believe she will be with us all in spirit.
